Advice for Your Destination Wedding!

Costa Rica in an exotic, beautiful place where you won’t regret celebrating one of the happiest, most memorable days of your life. Planning a destination wedding is no easy task though. Here are five tips to help you plan your dream wedding.

  • Weather: Costa Rica is a tropical country, sandwiched between two oceans. Instead of having four season we only have rainy season (May to November) and dry season (April to December). We recommend planning your wedding for dry season. If you are not able to set your date between April and December, the next best options are to either have a morning wedding (it usually starts to rain in the afternoons) or plan your destination wedding in the north of the country, in the province of Guanacaste. This province has some amazing beaches and because of its drier climate, there is less chance of rain.

  • Beaches, waterfalls, mountains… Costa Rica is famous for its white sand beaches, wild life, coffee and the president swallowing a fly on live televisions (link). When it comes to planning there are more options than just the beach or a resort to host your wedding. Within driving distance, you can choose between waterfalls, mountains, urban setting, hotels, farms, beautiful Catholic churches, gardens and everything in between. Don’t limit your imagination and ask your local wedding planner to give you all the options.

  • Watch out for scams! Tourism is one of the top three sources of income for Costa Rica, hosting all types of accommodations for your family and friends to have an amazing experiences, but… you have to watch out for scammers. Many people only see dollar signs when they see “gringos” or foreigners. Before you make any deal that seems too good to be true, make sure you verify the website and ask around before believing every salesman. A lot of the time people tend to exaggerate and sell you something that is not true.

  • Hire a wedding planner: Not all of us are capable of planning an event with so many details to be considered and decisions to made which can have some major consequences. Besides, you are suppose to enjoy your wedding day! You shouldn’t be running around trying to keep things running smoothly. Most resorts include a wedding planner on the package, but if you are not taking that route or are not happy with the one included, there are plenty of good wedding planners out there. Here is a list we’ve compiled of Wedding Planners in Costa Rica.

  • Record your special day: The down side of doing a destination wedding is that often times times not all your friends and family are able to make it.
